The Area

The Peach House is located in the heart of the Old Town of Chania. Just a few meters from the square of Splantzia and less than a 100 meters from the most busy, pedestrian streets like Daliani, Potie and Kalergon. There you can find restaurants, cafeterias, bakeries and mini-markets as well as small shops, making the area the perfect place to enjoy your vacations. If you prefer taking walks, you may visit the rest of the Old Town, from the central Agora (covered marketplace) to the old venetian harbour to blend with the crowds.
On contrary, if you prefer serenity you may take a walk on the Koum-Kapi harbour, which is a natural small bay with a sandy beach and cafes. All these sites are in a radius of 300 meters from the house. As for swimming, the sandy beach of Nea Chora is next to the old harbour within walking distance (1,2 km).

THE SQUARE OF SPLANTZIA

The district of Splantzia was the Turkish neighborhood of the town of Chania, back when Ottomans ruled the island. The religious habits as well as other needs of the conquerors, resulted in many of the Venetian buildings to accept the necessary conversions under the influence of Turkish architecture. One of the two remaining minarets is located here, with the other one in Daliani street. Today the coffee tables under the shady plane of the square, are ideal for a stopover from your long walks inChania’s old town. During the night, the place becomes joyful and packed with people due to bars, coffee shops, small taverns and restaurants that are located in the area.

NEA CHORA

Nea Chora is a long sandy beach just a kilometer west from the centre of Chania. It is an organized beach, with shallow waters and a few rocky parts, ideal for those who want to remain in the city. In the area are the most visited fish taverns, making this beach the perfect place to combine food and swimming. The small islet of Lazaretto stands opposite of the beach, challenging the more experienced swimmers to make the distance between the beach and the islet.

CULINARY ADVENTURES

Chania is the place for the food lovers! Greek-Cretan cuisine restaurants and small taverns, are located around the square of Splantzia and the traditional, narrow streets of Daliani and Potie. Also, pay some attention atthe fish taverns of Nea Chora. In the Venetian harbour you can find a variety of places to enjoy your meal, such as local taverns, Italian and oriental restaurants.

SANDY BEACHES

In the municipality of Chania there are beaches for every preference, whether you want to relax or party. If you are interested in vivid excursions and partying, just 10 km of Chania there is Agia Marina, a very long, sandy beach, full of beach bars and restaurants. The further you travel from town, you shall find Balo (40km), Falasarna (55km) and Elafonisi (80km) in the western part of the island. Down south, there is Palaiochora (70km), Sougia (70km) and Fragokastelo (80km), beaches of great beauty, which are worth a visit.
